OF THE EARTH

ROLE

Creator
Choreographer
Remount Performer ("Eve")
ABOUT THE PROJECT

Often when we think about the “Creation Story”, Eve is painted as a tool of evil; a vehicle for sin. She is a catalyst for destruction. What happens if we look at a new version of history… one that is not written by those in power? Eve’s journey begins with her emergence from the earth. She makes discoveries about her body, personality, and surroundings. She learns about beauty, knowledge, pain, heartbreak, and her own ability to create new life. Her quest for the “forbidden fruit” comes not from a place of weakness and temptation, but from creativity, life, and compassion.

PRESS

"The evening’s other impressive dancer (also writer and choreographer) was Hannah Holman, a “girl” actually covered in dirt as she performed Of The Earth, which tweaks the story of the Garden of Eden from Eve’s perspective. Eve is at one with her brand new world, and then she eats that apple. Knowledge is gained, but some instinct is lost—can the connection to nature be found again?"
